The Moody Warlock's Ember Keep

Nature reclaims a house as trees are destroyed

The local government decided to spend millions on a golf course. No surprise they'd previously rammed through rule changes that exempted them from state environmental protections. It's all about the money, status, and prestige, you understand.

All of this means that nearly 600 old trees are being ripped out - habitats for local wildlife, shade on summer days that are becoming increasingly warmer, and a green corridor that the city has always been proud of. Old mature trees to be replaced by new young trees that will take decades to grow tall and wide.

The problem: people treating nature as a resource to exploit, dominate, and use. We don’t own nature. We're part of it. I am nature, said Jackson Pollock to Hans Hoffman. And so we are.
